Dr. Rita Mishra completed her MBBS and DGO from Gajra Raja Medical College, Gwalior, in 1978 and 1991. She worked for 10 years as a registrar in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of G.R. Medical College and has been serving as Assistant Superintendent at Kamla Raja Women Hospital, Gwalior, for the past 15 years. With over 35 years of experience as a specialist in the Public Health and Family Welfare Department, she has held important positions in medical associations, such as Secretary and Vice President of the Gwalior Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society, Treasurer of AMPOG, and Secretary and Vice President of IMA Gwalior. She is currently the Chairperson of Mission Pink Health Gwalior, a health project run by the National IMA. She has worked actively to spread awareness about women’s health, especially among school and college girls. She organized anemia check-up camps in 50 schools, tested over 3,000 girls, and distributed iron tablets to those who were anemic. She gave talks on topics like menstrual hygiene, HPV and Rubella vaccination, and cancer awareness. She also helped install sanitary pad machines in schools. Her work has been recognized with awards like the Gwalior Chikitsa Ratan and Corona Warrior Award. She has written articles and poems on health topics for newspapers and has spoken on radio and Doordarshan. As President of the Innerwheel Club of Gwalior, she organized many social and health-related activities in both urban and rural areas.
